Current V.A.S. activities include the following:

* Deep-Sky observing (star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, double stars, Etc...)

* Astrophotography (deep-sky, planetary, lunar, solar and auroral)

* Telescope Making (design, assembly and telescope mirror making)

* Planetary Observing (excellent planetary images with the 10" f/20 Buchroeder-Schiefspiegler telescope)

* Solar Observing and Photography (white light and H-alpha)

* Asteroid and Comet Observing (A.L.P.O. minor planet and comet sections)

* Public Education (V.A.S. members give slide shows and talks, as well as sponsoring public star parties and astronomy courses)

* Research Programs: Research activities and opportunities include variable star observing, comet observing and comet search, minor planet observing, planetary observing, lunar and solar observing and auroral photography. V.A.S. members are active in the American Association of Variable Star Observers (A.A.V.S.O.), as well as the planet, comet and minor planet sections of the Association of Lunar and Planetary Observers (A.L.P.O.).
