NGC Observation Certificates (Basic)

 

Binocular: Must observe at least 150 objects from the NGC Catalogue.

 

Telescope: Must observe at least 400 objects from the NGC Catalogue.

 

Instrument Size: Binoculars: Giant Binoculars such as 20 x 80’s or larger are

Recommended but not required for this award. Tripod mounting is a must.

Telescope:  A 10” telescope or larger is recommended but not required for this award.

 

Required Information: Date, Time, Location, Object #, Binoculars (power and size) or Telescope: (size, type, F/#, power), Sky Conditions.

 

Requirements:

            Binoculars: Required to observe at least 150 objects of which some of the objects must be from different categories: such as star clusters or galaxies or nebulae.

            Telescope: Required to observe at least 400 objects      of which some of the objects must be from different categories: such as star clusters or galaxies or nebulae.

 

All must observe, identify, draw or describe each object.

 

Total Minimal Observations for a Certificate:

Binoculars 150 Objects

Telescope 400 Objects
