The cloud reduced the light on the brightest part of the moon. This is part of a multiple exposure series documenting the conjunction. Earthshine illuminating the moon was easily visible.

The beautiful filaments are visible in a 10" telescope in dark skies. This picture is a sum of 100 30 second frames and was captured in Alburgh VT on 7/1/08.

(the polarizers were not needed I just didn't bother to take it off.
Set at 200mm f/5.6, iso200, 1/640 sec.
The "green flash" occurs because the atmosphere strongly refracts lights of objects low on the horizon, just like a prism. With red on the bottom and blue on the top.Jun 05, 2010

Focus was soft. The seeing was poor and the tracking was problamatic, had to use 5sec integrations and that's a little too long for my setup. All the subs had a little trailing and could not use 4 of them.
