Holmes - Moon Comparison28 viewsHere's a montage of my images showing Comet 17P/Holmes' size relative to the Moon starting approximately one day after it's outburst (10/25/07, 5:30 AM EST) to 25 days after. Note the difference in exposure times as the comet expanded (0.5 seconds to 5 minutes). I tried to pick images with similar surface brightness as best I could. All images are at the same image scale- prime focus in a 10" f/5.6 Newtonian reflector.
